Congratulations . . .
to Kaua’i Cua for earning several notable recognitions in local poetry competitions. Kaua’i was one of three students recognized in the West Des Moines Library Poetry Contest in March. Kaua’i also placed 2nd in the Lyrical Iowa Poetry Contest and she is now a published poet! Her English teacher is Mrs. Wicks. Congrats, Kaua’i!
Schedule Changes
Students, please note that both the Valley High School and Valley Southwoods Counseling Departments have moved to an online process to handle schedule change requests. You must use this online form to request a change in your sophomore year’s schedule. See today’s announcements for the link and details (below under “Notes to Parents and Guardians”).

Notes to Parents & Guardians
Both the VHS and VSW Counseling Departments have moved to an online process to handle schedule change requests. The online form will be the only way to request a schedule change for the 2019-2020 school year. Please read the information below BEFORE you fill out the online form.
Appropriate reasons for a schedule change include:
· APPROVED level change (ie: poor performance in a prerequisite, desire to enroll in a higher-level course, etc.)
· Computer and/or clerical error
· Failure to meet a course prerequisite
· Enrollment in a course to meet graduation requirements
· College entrance requirement
· Adding a course to replace a study hall/open period
· Dropping a course
Counselors will be making changes over the summer. You can confirm that the changes were made when schedules are released in the fall. If there is an issue with their request, the student’s counselor will reach out to him or her.
Students are asked to only submit one request, multiple requests may cause confusion and result in not being able to process the request. Schedule change requests must be completed by 2:00 pm on the third day of the semester.

Parents and guardians, please take a moment to review your child’s grades and assignments in Infinite Campus. The information you gather here can help to facilitate conversations at home. It is a great opportunity to celebrate successes and encourage improvement.

VSW Registration Packet Volunteers Needed: Four parent volunteers are needed to help assemble registration packets. Students of the parent volunteers can also sign up to help and earn Silver Cord hours. Volunteers are needed Monday, June 3, 2019, from 9 – 11:00 am. Sign-up (click here). Clive Community Services Seeking Volunteer Physicians! CCS is seeking volunteer physicians for our free clinic. Due to maternity leave and continuing education, we find ourselves in immediate need.
