Encore
Students are reminded that by now you should be signed up for one of next week’s (Feb. 12) Encore sessions. If you do not pick one for yourself, one will be assigned to you.
· To make sure you are signed up, use Infinite Campus to check your schedule and you should see an Encore session that includes next Tuesday’s date in red.

Sweet Heart Show
Treat your sweetie to a night of fabulous entertainment at the annual Valley High School Sweetheart Show Thursday night (Feb. 7).
· Featuring Choralation and Ignition show choirs and small group performances by talented Valley and Valley Southwoods students.
· Doors open at 6pm for a silent auction and concessions and the show starts at 7pm.
· This is the largest fundraiser for the two Valley Show Choirs.
· The 2019 WDM Valley Sweetheart Show is sponsored by Huntington Learning Center.

All boys interested in playing tennis this spring need to attend a Player/Parents meeting Tuesday (Feb. 12) evening at 5:30 in the Valley High School Cafeteria. All players and at least one parent or guardian are expected to attend.

Parents and guardians, please take a moment to review your child’s grades and assignments in Infinite Campus. The information you gather here can help to facilitate conversations at home. It is a great opportunity to celebrate successes and encourage improvement.

Boys’ Track Parents and Guardians! Please plan to attend a parent/coaches meeting on Wednesday, February 13 at 5:45 pm at Valley High School Forum (Please note that this is a change in date from what was originally posted). The meeting will include distribution of important information by Head Coach Trygstad pertaining to your student athlete’s participation, including the lettering policy, season schedule, etc. There will be opportunities to order yard signs, pay the team dues, and VOLUNTEER in various capacities.
Bring your calendars and your checkbooks! We are also asking if you are able to donate a case of bottled water and/or Gatorade to help with our pasta dinners, please bring that to our parent meeting as well on February 12th!
Free Sports Physicals are available every Monday evening 5:30-7:30 at Clive Community Services Free Clinic (2190 NW 82nd Street, Suite A). Athletes should bring their sports paperwork with them. Regular health clinic services also available. Click here or call 257-8550 for more information.

NEW CLASS: Parenting with the 3 Principles
In the face of increasingly busy schedules, peer pressure, and social media, parenting can feel like an uphill battle In this class, parents are invited to participate in an honest discussion about these difficulties. Using the framework of the 3 Principles (Mind, Consciousness, Thought), as well as their own personal experiences with both family and students, Mitch and Ben teach the power of choosing our own thoughts and how these choices can impact positive parent-child interactions. Class taught by Valley Southwoods Principal Mitch Kuhnert and WDMCS teacher Ben Stein.

Healthy Co-Parenting: What can I do if I’m in conflict with my co-parent? What do we do if we can’t agree on an issue? In this free workshop, parents will learn how to communicate more effectively with their co-parent and be provided tools to deal with the most common challenges faced by co-parents. Time will be allowed for a question and answer session. Class led by Kimberly Stamatelos, an attorney and mediator in West Des Moines with 35 years’ experience assisting divorcing couples.

Understanding and Preparing for Divorce
Divorce is hard enough by itself. This class will help you understand the process and potential pitfalls. It will address how to choose an attorney, custody issues, child support, and equitable division of assets such as 401K pension, social security, and alimony. Course taught by a legal and financial professional.
