Homecoming Dance
Students who plan to attend this weekends’ school dance are reminded that it is a semi-formal attire affair. So, no jeans, shorts, hats, canes, jerseys, sunglasses, or costumes allowed. We would suggest khaki pants with a collar shirt and tie for the boys; nice dress (but not long or formal "gowns;" dress length must be consistent with student dress code) for the girls.
All WDMCS students must have a valid school ID, guests must have a valid photo ID, to enter the dance. If you do not have proper ID, you will not be allowed into the dance (even if you have already purchased a ticket).
Bus Transfers
Students please note that we will be running an alternative schedule (see below) on Friday (Sep. 15) so that we may attend the Homecoming Assembly at Valley High School. Therefore, there will be NO bus transfers for classes on Friday.
Community Service
North Side Band (Crestview School of Inquiry), Clive Learning Academy PTO Crazy Fun Run, and the new Ronald McDonald House construction project are all still looking for volunteers. For more information, see the Silver Cord webpage.
Sports News
Congratulations to the girls’ swim team for their two wins over Southeast Polk last night. The varsity won 111 to 74 and the JV dominated 122 to 40. Southwoods swimmers are: Ella Bishop, Grace Broderick, Francesca Cannon, Zayna Dickson, Ashnna Dorwal, Ashley Hoffa, Eleanor Horak, Asmi Patel, Ana Pizinger, Risha Shetye, Libby Tharp, Annie Thiel, Jocyln Tracy and Allison Wyatt. Well done ladies!
Congratulations to the boys’ golf team on their victory yesterday over the Rams. Medalist for the Tigers were: Andrew Williams, Alex Bray, Josh Alles, Gavin Kramer and Jared Chmelka.
Off season student athletes are reminded the weight room will be open in the mornings from 6:30 -7:30 in addition to the after school hours. See today’s announcements for details. Normal Hours (starts Sep. 11):

Homecoming Dance Reminder: A reminder that Junior High students are not allowed to attend High School sponsored dances of any kind. This includes: Valley Southwoods dances, the 9-12 Homecoming Dance, the 9-12 Winter Dance, and any other High School dances scheduled throughout any school year in West Des Moines.
