Community Service

Here are three new Silver Cord opportunities for you to consider:

· Volunteers are needed to help set up for the North Side Band every Tuesday morning before school. Set up begins at 7:00 am and ends at 7:30 am. This is easy work and a solid consistent Silver Cord Opportunity. To help out contact Jerilyn Kobberdahl (email click here). This volunteer activity will take place at Crestview School of Inquiry located at 8355 Franklin Ave in Clive.

· Clive Learning Academy PTO is preparing for their annual Crazy Fun Run (Oct. 6). To get things ready, volunteers are needed Wednesday, October 4 from 6-9:00 pm to help pack Race Day bags for students. The race bags will include papers, prizes, and t-shirt. The packing will be done assembly line style in the school cafeteria. To lend a hand sign up through the SignUpGenius (click here). For more information contact Laura Schieber (email click here). Clive Learning Academy is located at 1600 73rd Street in Windsor Heights.

· Volunteers are needed to help serve food to the vendors that are helping build the new Ronald McDonald House. Notes to Parents:

We have recently discovered that @mchsi.com parent email addresses are NOT receiving messages from Infinite Campus Messenger. Please read this post (click here) for suggested options. Please note: I do realize the irony of putting this information out in the daily announcements. If you have a friend or neighbor whose student(s) attends school along with your child, and you know they have Mediacom, please pass this along.

All Valley and Southwoods vocal music parents are invited to the Valley Voices meeting on Tuesday, September 12th at 5:30 p.m. in the Valley Ensemble Room. Valley Voices is the vocal music booster club for all 13 Valley and Southwoods choirs. Enter the south Fine Arts doors by the softball fields. Questions? Email Andrea at wdmvalleyvoices.

Tumbler Sales: Last Tuesday in Advisory students were given a packet to purchase tumblers as a fundraiser. The company we are fundraising from created a Valley Tigers tumbler for us, or you can chose from many other collegiate tumblers. All money raised in this fundraiser follows this class of 2021 to their senior year. These tumblers make great holiday gifts as well. Orders with money attached, are due in the Southwoods office by end of day Tuesday, September 12th. For every tumbler sold, your student will receive a ticket towards a raffle drawing. If you do not wish to purchase a tumbler, but would like to donate money instead, every $10 donation will earn your student a ticket towards a raffle drawing.
